 "Interested In NanoTechnology?"  



 "A local chapter of the IEEE NanoTechnology Council is now forming!  Dr. Dean  Aslam of Michigan State University is leading the call for members to join us in forming this new chapter. From the NTC website   ( http://ewh.ieee.org/tc/nanotech  )

     'The IEEE Nanotechnology Council is a multi-disciplinary group whose purpose is to advance and coordinate work in the field of Nanotechnology carried out throughout the IEEE in scientific, literary and educational areas. The Council supports the theory, design, and development of nanotechnology and its scientific, engineering, and industrial applications.'

If you are a member of one of the associated societies (see link below) and are interested in joining this chapter, please email Doug Czinder, chapter organizer, at chair@semrobotics.org. We need 12 signatures on the formal petition to be submitted to IEEE for approval. See member societies here: http://ewh.ieee.org/tc/nanotech/

Biography:
Nextek Power Sytems, Inc. develops innovative technology based on DC standard that best promote renewable energy development. Nextek is supported by Next Energy which is part of Michigan Gov.

Paul Savage, CEO, was an outside Director prior to joining Nextek December 2002. A graduate from Haverford College, his background includes Bond Trading at CS First Boston and risk management at Lehman Brothers before joining start-up operations of Caterpillar's dealership in Vietnam, V-TRAC. Based in Hanoi, Paul filled 2 roles as the Director of Customer Finance and Marketing. He grew this green-field start-up to 87 employees, 5 offices and $22 million in sales in 2 years. This business was primarily back-up power systems from 20 kW to 2 MW.  He is a Founding Member of the Emerge Alliance Corporation, a consortium aimed at promoting direct current (DC) power standards for buildings.

Paul is a member of the Board of Directors of Winrock International , a nonprofit organization that works with people in the United States and around the world to empower the disadvantaged, increase economic opportunity, and sustain natural resources.  He is also a member of the Clinton Global Initiative; the largest individual investor in Nextek; and the organizer and coach for the team which operates the Company today.

 A Message from the Conference Chair:

This year, the IEEE of Southeastern Michigan will focus the annual Fall Section Conference on the development, implementation, and commercialization of Green Technology in the Great Lakes Region. Our goals are simple: We wish to raise awareness of the diverse regional activity in Green Technology in the area. We will explore the research efforts, the opportunities for realizations, present examples of implementations, and discuss the business opportunities.

9:00am – 12:00pm Two Morning Technical Session Tracks
12:00pm – 1:30pm Lunch, Awards Ceremony, Speaker Recognition
1:30pm – 4:30pm Two Afternoon Technical Session Tracks

About Us

Detroit is the major city in Southeastern Michigan. However, the IEEE Section covers ten counties in southeastern Michigan and Ontario. Counties include: Clinton, Eaton, Ingham, Jackson, Livingston, Macomb, Oakland, St. Clair, Washtenaw, and Wayne Counties in Michigan and Essex County, Ontario, Canada.

Major cities include: Windsor, Ontario; Ann Arbor, Michigan; and Lansing, Michigan which is the State Capitol. We are the only U.S.A. IEEE Section that extends outside the U.S.
